Abstract Futuristic Background

Meet the Future of AI
Countering Sophisticated & Advanced Disinformation

29 June 2023 | 09:00 - 17:30 CET | VRT, Karabiniersplein, Auguste Reyerslaan 52 B, 1043 Brussels

Research and Innovation initiatives, TITAN, AI4mediaAI4Trust, and vera.ai (view below) - in cooperation with the European Commission - ran a policy and innovation conference in Brussels on 29 June 2023, focused on exploring the issues and challenges around generative AI and the tackling of disinformation.

Disinformation is a growing threat online, leading to distrust in institutions and other serious consequences. The event discussed the benefits and challenges presented by generative AI, explored how the threats can be tackled, and looked at the latest cutting-edge advanced AI tools for countering disinformation. Panels featured expert speakers from policy, journalism, research and innovation.

Hosted by the Belgian broadcaster, VRT, the symposium was held in hybrid form (on location and via live stream).

Vera.ai  is  developing trustworthy AI solutions in the fight against disinformation. These are to be co-created in close collaboration between leading technology experts in the domain and prospective future users–all brought together in via a co-creation approach.  The expected solutions will deal with different content types (audio, video, images, and text) and do so across a variety of languages.

The Commission is tackling the spread of online disinformation and misinformation to ensure the protection of European values and democratic systems. Large-scale disinformation campaigns are a major challenge for Europe and require a coordinated response from EU countries, EU institutions, online platforms, news media and EU citizens. The Commission has developed a number of initiatives to tackle disinformation

The initiatives below are our sister projects as they are based in the same unit at the European Commission (DG CNECT).
